Privacy Policy

A.1. Introduction
Peabuk Technologies Limited ("Peabuk", "we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, disclose, and otherwise process personal information when you access or use the Peabuk Platform.
This Policy is prepared in compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 ("NDPA"), the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation 2019 ("NDPR"), and other applicable data protection legislation. By using the Platform, you consent to the practices described herein.
A.2. Data Controller
Peabuk Technologies Limited, registered at Lagos, Nigeria, is the Data Controller responsible for personal data processed through the Platform. Our Data Protection Officer may be contacted at: privacy@peabuk.com.
A.3. Information We Collect
A.3.1 Information You Provide
We collect only the personal information you voluntarily provide to us, which may include:
- Contact and identity information: full name, email address, telephone number, and business or mailing address;
- Account credentials: username and encrypted password;
- Business information: for Event Planners, Merchants, and Vendors โ business registration details, tax identification numbers, portfolio information, and relevant service descriptions;
- Financial information: bank account details and payment information (processed securely by our third-party payment processors; Peabuk does not store complete payment card data);
- Event information: event details, guest management data, preferences, and registry selections submitted through the Platform;
- Communications: messages, reviews, feedback, and support requests submitted through the Platform; and
- Profile information: photographs, biographical descriptions, and service portfolios uploaded by Planners, Merchants, and Vendors.
NOTE: Peabuk does not collect government-issued identification numbers or date of birth as standard. Where identity verification is required in future for specific account types, a separate policy supplement will be issued and your consent obtained.
A.3.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you access the Platform, we automatically collect:
- Device and technical information: IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifier, and network provider;
- Usage data: pages visited, features accessed, search queries, time and duration of visits, and clickstream data; and
- Location data: approximate geographic location derived from IP address.
A.3.3 Information from Third Parties
We may receive information about you from third-party sources, including social media platforms (where you use social login), payment processors, fraud prevention providers, and publicly available business registries.
A.4. Legal Basis for Processing
We process your personal data on the following legal bases under the NDPA:
- Contract performance: processing necessary to provide the services you have requested;
- Legitimate interests: processing necessary for fraud prevention, security, dispute resolution, and service improvement, where not overridden by your rights;
- Consent: where you have given specific, informed, and freely given consent; and
- Legal obligation: processing required to comply with applicable law and regulatory requirements.
A.5. Use of Your Information
We use collected information to:
- create and manage your account and deliver Platform services;
- process transactions and facilitate payments through our payment providers;
- connect Event Hosts, Event Planners, Merchants, and Vendors as facilitated by the Platform;
- conduct identity and fraud prevention checks;
- send transactional communications, service updates, and administrative notices;
- send marketing communications where you have opted in;
- monitor, scan, and review Platform communications for fraud detection, dispute resolution, and policy enforcement, as described in the Terms of Service;
- analyse usage and improve the Platform's functionality;
- comply with legal and regulatory obligations; and
- enforce our Terms of Service, Platform Policies, and applicable law.
A.6. International Data Transfers
IMPORTANT: Peabuk uses third-party infrastructure and service providers, including cloud hosting providers (such as Amazon Web Services) and payment processors (such as Paystack), that may process your personal data outside the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
In such cases, Peabuk takes steps to ensure that adequate safeguards are in place for the transfer of personal data to third countries, in accordance with the requirements of the NDPA. By using the Platform, you consent to the transfer of your personal data to jurisdictions outside Nigeria for the purposes described in this Policy, subject to the safeguards described herein.

A.7. Sharing of Your Information
We may share your personal data with:
- Other Platform users, to the extent necessary to facilitate booked services or event planning (for example, sharing an Event Planner's contact details with a Host who has engaged their services);
- Payment processors and financial institutions, for the purpose of processing transactions;
- Cloud infrastructure and technology providers, bound by data processing agreements;
- Regulatory and law enforcement authorities, where required by law or court order;
- Professional advisers โ lawyers, accountants, auditors โ under obligations of confidentiality; and
- Business transferees, in connection with any merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties for their independent marketing purposes.
A.8. Data Retention
We retain personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected:
- Account data: for the duration of the account and five (5) years after closure;
- Transaction records: minimum of seven (7) years, in compliance with Nigerian financial record-keeping requirements;
- Communications and dispute records: for the period reasonably necessary to resolve disputes and satisfy legal obligations; and
- Marketing preferences: until withdrawal of consent or opt-out.
A.9. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures โ including encrypted transmission, access controls, and regular security reviews โ to protect your personal data. No electronic system is wholly impenetrable; we cannot guarantee absolute security but will notify you and relevant authorities of any material data breach in accordance with our obligations under the NDPA.
A.10. Your Data Protection Rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests. You may also withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
To exercise your rights, contact us at privacy@peabuk.com. We shall respond within thirty (30) days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
A.11. Children's Privacy
The Platform is not directed at persons under eighteen (18) years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If we become aware of such collection, we shall promptly delete the data.
A.12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or notice on the Platform at least fourteen (14) days before taking effect.

Cookie Policy

B.1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the website to recognise your device, remember your preferences, and provide a more personalised experience. Similar technologies โ including web beacons, pixels, local storage, and session identifiers โ may also be used and are referred to collectively in this Policy as "cookies".
B.2. How We Use Cookies
Peabuk uses cookies for the following purposes:
B.2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the Platform to function and cannot be switched off. They include session authentication, security tokens, and load balancing identifiers. No consent is required for these cookies.
B.2.2 Performance and Analytics Cookies
These cookies collect information about how Users interact with the Platform โ such as pages visited and error messages received โ to help us improve performance. We use analytics providers (such as Google Analytics) for this purpose. Data collected is aggregated and anonymised where possible.
B.2.3 Functionality Cookies
These cookies allow the Platform to remember choices you have made, such as language preference, login details, and regional settings, in order to provide an enhanced, personalised experience.
B.2.4 Marketing and Targeting Cookies
These cookies may be set by our third-party advertising partners to build a profile of your interests and serve relevant advertisements on other websites. They do not directly store personal information but uniquely identify your browser and device. We will only set these cookies with your consent.
B.3. Third-Party Cookies
Third-party services integrated into the Platform (such as payment processors, analytics tools, and social media login providers) may set their own cookies, which are subject to those third parties' privacy and cookie policies. We do not control third-party cookies.
B.4. Managing Your Cookie Preferences
You may control and manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies. Please note that disabling cookies may affect the functionality of certain Platform features, including the ability to remain logged in or access personalised content. You may also manage consent preferences through the cookie consent manager accessible on the Platform.
